Two boda boda operators have been suspended by Riamoni chief for allegedly coordinating a group of gangsters who have been vandalising businesses in the area.

The two, Peter Magangi and Victor Omoi, will remain out of business till the local administration finalise on the evidence that will be used to charge them.

Speaking on Wednesday during a Baraza at the area, chief Francis Rasugu said the two had been adversely mentioned by victims and vowed to expedite the investigations till the truth is established.

“We come from a community whereby when you have been mentioned in a crime, the chances of being culpable are very high. The two will remain suspended in their operations till we finalise gathering of evidence and that is what I am doing. We want our people to live with harmony,” he said.

Mr Rasugu said the two were ex-convicts and his team was working daily to ensure they are arraigned in court to answer charges in relation to theft.

“They we charged sometimes and served their sentences and if they have reverted to the criminal life, then we have no option other than to do the necessary,” he said.

However, Mr Magangi told Hivisasa.com that he will not abide by the suspension and accused the chief of overstepping his mandate to deny them their rights.

“I have a right as a Kenyan to do a business. I haven’t been found guilty and that is important to note. No one can purport to dismiss me from doing my business,” he said.
