Residents of Makongeni in Thika sub-county have been cautioned against using a path following incidents of unprecedented attacks by an unknown gang.
Area chief Daniel Waiguru said that there has emerged a gang of unknown men who are attacking the public and molesting them sexually. Several incidences have been reported to him since last week, he said.
Mr Waiguru has vowed to apprehend the involved culprits but called for personal security measures among the residents as the administration gets a permanent solution to the challenge.
The local administrator added that the cases reported are worrying and the concerns have made him come up with the closing of the path. Police in collaboration with the chief are set to make raids in the evenings from Wednesday.
Last year, three men were molested by unknown people at Kamenu market near Phase Six in Makongeni and according Waiguru, the culprits might have moved back after they were raided last year and escaped narrowly.
Speaking from Kiandutu on Tuesday, the chief called on residents to be cautious saying that anyone that decides to use the path will be held liable for his attacks.
“Let’s secure ourselves first and obey the directive. The path is dangerous and if you chose to use it then it will be at your own risk,” the chief said.
