Speaking in his Chitago-Borabu Ward during an awards function to youths who participated in a music competition, Albert Oino reiterated the need for the youth to take advantage of the county governments and well-wishers to show their worth in various talents.

He said many youths from the area were taking their talents for granted, whereas youths from other different parts of the country were benefiting immensely from the devolved governments.

“Time has come for our youths to seize the opportunity given by the county governments to showcase their abilities. Well-wishers are also ready to support you but unfortunately, the number that is showing interest is very small,” he said.

Oino lauded the county government for supporting the youths, but insisted that more needed to be done to bring more talented youths in art, sports and music for considerations.

“The county government, through the ministry of youths and sports has shown us that it is ready to assist us. We have organized several events around the county but very few youths are ready to participate for identification,” said the youthful MCA.

He asked parents to desist from being impediments for children who never exceled in class but showed some promise in extracurricular activities.

“Although education is important, remember our absorption capacity isn’t the same and parents should not impose education on children who are good in extracurricular activities. They should be allowed to pursue their talents,” he said.
