A group of youths who have been using their resources to sensitise their colleagues in Kisii County about HIV/Aids have been honored by the Catholic Church, Kisii Town Parish.
The group led by Mr Justin Migosi has been holding seminars over the weekend in different sub counties, using them as avenues to teach youths about abstaining from premarital sex.
Speaking on Thursday at St Vincent Church when receiving the group (Youth for God), Brother James Manani said the church would use it resources to support the outreach program conducted by the group to other counties in Nyanza region.
“I am very happy with what the group is currently doing and they have shown that one can use limited resources to change the community on a certain perception. As a church, we want the program to expand and reach other counties in Nyanza because the HIV preference is very high here,” he said.
He said the parish will provide free transport to the group to achieve the objectives of reaching millions of youths from the region.
“For now, the parish leadership has agreed to provide free transport to your team so that you can cover extensive regions and probably reach more youths who risks contracting the virus,” he said.
Migosi lauded the church for its determination to see the program reaching its objectives and challenged youths to embrace church teachings.
“We are happy that the church has recognised the work we started doing about a year ago. It is very challenging but with such help from the church, I think we are going places, it is only the youths to embrace what we teach them,” he said.
