Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan has warned entertainment joints and bars against selling alcoholic drinks before the stipulated hours.

Speaking to journalists in Eldoret town on Friday, the county commissioner asked licensed bar operators to adhere to 'Mututho' laws.

Mr Hassan said bars and entertainment joints that will be found going against the  laws will be shut down immediately.

He said licensed bars will have to adhere to the regulations if they want to remain in business.

“Bar operators and entertainment joint owners must make sure they adhere to the existing laws regulating selling of liquor if they want to remain in business,” he said.

The county commissioner also warned bars and entertainment joints against selling alcohol to teenagers.

Mr Hassan on the same note asked the County Alcoholic and Licensing Control Board to conduct regular inspections on existing bars and entertainment joints.

He said regular inspections will make sure that the operators adhere to the laid down laws.

In a separate briefing with journalists on the same day, County Alcoholics and Licensing Control Board Director Armstrong Rono said that they will not get tired on conducting operations to weed out rogue operators.

Mr Rono who led officials in inspecting some bars in Eldoret town asked licensed bar operators to adhere to the regulations.

He also said that officials from the Board in collaboration with the police will be conducting impromptu operations to nab rogue operators.
