Nakuru Members of County Assembly (MCAs) have lashed out at the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) for demanding national dialogue with the government.

Speaking in Nakuru on Monday, the MCAs asked the opposition leaders to respect the government and exercise their criticism role responsibly.

‘‘The recent push for dialogue is a hidden agenda to make unnecessary demands for power sharing. The opposition should wait for their time if Kenyans will elect them," said Rongai MCA Gitau Kamau.

Lare ward MCA Newton Kabuu added: "Those pushing for a national dialogue are ill-advised. The opposition should support the government's agenda to achieve development.”

Separately, women MCAs from Nakuru defended Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru over her move to remove Jasper Rugut from the National Youth Service. Waiguru is facing an impeachment motion over abuse of power and violation of the constitution.

MCAs Jane Simita, Eunice Mureithi and Catherine Waweru said they are not happy with the National Assembly over how it is dealing with the motion against Waiguru.

The women MCAs said the motion by Igembe legislator, Mithika Linturi, is a clear onslaught on women in leadership and that the motion will not sail through parliament.
