Moi University Law School students, Annex branch have vowed to take the Council of Legal Education (CLE) to court for defamation after the council ordered the closure of the institution for failure to meet the required standards of teaching law.
Led by their chairman Khalende Wabwire during a demonstration on Tuesday, the angry students expressed their dissatisfaction with the move.
"We will not allow our institution to be closed, the council only measured our credibility based on this institution’s infrastructural inadequacy," Khalende said.
The students also gave a stun warning to the council if they don’t withdraw their report in the next 48- hours or they will take the issue to court.
"We will also go to court to sue the council for defamation if they fail to withdraw the report," Khalende added.
The CLE ordered closure of the institution after failing to meet the threshold for teaching law, a move that will see a blow to 1,500 students who were undertaking their law courses in the school.
