The county government of Kisii has been urged to sensitise and empower the youth on how to take advantage of the 30 percent government tenders set aside for them.
According to Moti Ongeri, a Nyatieko Ward youthful politician, most young people have little information on how to get these tenders and the procedures to follow.
Ongeri who spoke to this writer on Wednesday at Kisii Town said there were many projects that the youth need to start so that they can develop themselves.
“As the youth, we need to focus and change our lifves by changing our negative altitudes toward achieving something by knowing what we are supposed to do. We would like to ask our leaders to sensitise us on how to get these tenders,” he said.
He stressed that there is need for both political and religious leaders to empower the youth.
“Youth being the backbone of economy we need to be empowered so that we can develop this country,” he added.
Ongeri who is also a leader in the Kisii Youth Development Forum has advised young people to avoid wasting a lot of time in social media and instead join hands and start income generating projects.
"Most Kenyan youth spend a lot of time on social media chatting and socialising with others without knowing how much productive time they are wasting," he said.
