Addressing residents in a public baraza at the Kikuyu chief’s camp on Saturday, Maina said that the area chiefs were doing their best in the fight against illicit brew.

She said that the area is among those said to have fought the menace thoroughly.

The county commissioner said that the region had a high number of illicit brew sellers but the numbers had reduced significantly.

She added that the area chiefs had worked closely with the people to fight the menace.

Maina also applauded the police in the region for working closely with the chiefs to curb illicit brew in the region.

She condemned those who are still engaging in the business saying that their days are numbered.

"Security personnel in this region are doing a commendable job in the fight against illicit brew and we want to urge them to keep up the good job. Illicit brew is illegal and we are not going to allow the business to go on in our midst," said Maina.

She urged residents to continue working closely with the police in a bid to curb the menace in the region and its environs.

Maina warned youths against being paid to prepare illicit brew as they were promoting an illegal act.

She urged them to focus on other legal jobs other than promoting the illegal business.

She revealed that the fight against illegal liquor is still on as there are those who are still engaging in the business.
