A few months after Hivisasa.com covered the status of Nyaronge-Matutu road which had literally brought activities to halt due to its poor status, the county government of Nyamira has since renovated it.

The feeder road, which is said to be fundamental for transaction of businesses for tea farmers, was literally impassable, making residents look for help from the government.

But on Thursday, residents led by community elder Peter Mose lauded the county leadership for its expeditious response to the outcry besides promising to back all development projects in the region.

“A month ago we could barely use the road for transportation and you can see what has happened. I would like to thank the county government on behalf of the residents for this immediate response. I am glad that all the activities especially agricultural industry will resume immediately,” he said.

They urged the government to carry out regular maintenance to avoid any inconveniences that will lead to massive loss of revenues.

“With good roads, revenue can be collected because most people are agricultural oriented. Tie county government should consider regular maintenance and that should be the course,” he added.

County road chairman Ben Sironga insisted that the commitment of the county government to repair roads that were directly under its docket but urged the national government to also do its part since most roads were still under the function of the county government.
