Machakos county government has set policies that will enhance service delivery in all sectors to resolve the underlying problems that has faced the county previously.

Public Service Board (PSB) chairperson Irene Wanjiru Kamau on Monday morning, during a PSB meeting said that the county has established policies yet to be implemented that will create a human resource asset for the staff and support staff to improve and enhance service delivery.

“We have the policy on reserve salaries and wages, conducive work atmosphere, retirement benefits, promotions and job security as the county is aware of casual staffs who have been appealing to the government for permanent employment and the government is looking at that,” Wanjiru said.

She added that the county has appointed directorate and employed human resource officers for every sub county, tasked with collecting issues on late salaries, promotions and other complaints and present them to the directorate workforce that will deal with such issues.

The official however urged workers in the county not to be going into the streets before consulting with county officials as they are ready to listen to things that are affecting the county residents.

“Life is not looking for money or wealth, vehicles and allowances because this is the main weakness. Let us ask what we can do for the county and not always what the county has done for us,” she noted.

She said that delays of county workers' salaries is not caused by any CeC, arguing that money spent by counties is not from any bank in Machakos, rather they should understand that it is wired from the Central Bank.
