Uasin Gishu Government has set aside a whopping Sh6 million for the construction of bodaboda sheds in the financial year 2015/16.

The sheds, said  Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno, will help the operators to park their motorbikes as they wait for customers instead of parking anyhow, causing traffic jam and a security threat.

Speaking in his office on Wednesday, Chemno said that the project will commence soon.

He said besides providing them with parking space, the sheds will also help in identifying sacco members thus helping in ensuring security of their clients.

It will also be easy for the operators to be located since they will be in designated places.

“The Sh6 million will be shared amongst the 30 wards in the county with each receiving Sh200,000,” he said

He urged Uasin Gishu residents especially the youths to venture into the bodaboda business instead of waiting for white-collar jobs.

Meanwhile, the deputy governor urged all bodaboda operators to obey the traffic rules to avert accidents.
