The national government in collaboration with the Nyamira County government and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is set to distribute 8,650 mosquito nets to Nyamira residents starting November 5, to save people from malaria attacks.
Speaking to journalists on Monday in Nyamira town, Nyamira County Malaria Control Coordinator Steven Osiemo said distribution of the nets to people came in time because of the ongoing El Nino rains in the country and said that the people are going to be saved from malaria attacks.
Mr Osiemo said all residents who registered to get the mosquito nets are going to receive them.
He also challenged residents who never registered for mosquito nets to inform their clan elders so that their names could be recorded, and they will be given the mosquito nets.
“This is the El Nino season and every person should embrace the use mosquito nets to avoid malaria,” said Osiemo.
He added: “We have organised that as from November 5, we will start distributing mosquito nets to Nyamira residents and the distribution exercise will be conducted at every dispensary and health centers. All those registered should come on that day," said Osiemo.
