Ruiru OCPD Isaac Thuranira said the two were arrested after they were tipped by the members of the public.

Thuranira told journalists that the culprits had packed several litres of illicit alcohol in a 100ml polythene bags to disguise their identity.

"Members of the public are the ones who informed us that they had seen a man and a woman hawking alcohol here in Ruiru town," said Thuranira.

He added: "One of the spirits was branded Simba and another one as Coffee Spirit."

Thuranira thanked the members of the public for their co-operation with the police to rid the area of illicit brew. He urged residents not to relent in the fight against the brew assuring them of police support.

"Illicit brewers and sellers have now turned to very desperate measures like this one in order to sell their illegal products but with the help of the public, we are able to get them from wherever they are," said the OCPD.
