The High Court in Nakuru has given the 'Naivasha vampire' prosecution the final adjournment for witnesses to appear before court.
Justice Maureen Odera said that the prosecution must avail all the witnesses before court on July 21 for the case to proceed.
“I am giving the prosecution the final and the last adjournment. The court will not entertain and further adjournment of this case,” Justice Odera said.
Geoffrey Matheri alias ‘Fongo” was accused of sucking blood, killing and eating his victims’ flesh in Naivasha in 2008.
The prosecution said that six of the 14 witnesses are policemen and they are in different regions, one in Lamu, Mpeketoni and Busia. Allegedly, the prosecution is not sure where the other three police officers are.
Matheri has been in custody since 2008 and many of the witnesses did not give any reason why they are not present in court to testify.
