A suspect accused of defiling a minor was on Monday ordered by a Nakuru Court to undergo assessment to determine his age.

The suspect told the court that he is 17 years, and a student at a college in Nakuru town where he is studying motor vehicle wiring.

He also told the court that he completed his secondary education last year. His uncle who was present in the court identified him as his nephew.

The suspect is accused of allegedly forcing a 12-year-old girl in Standard Six to have sex with him on August 2, at Kiratina area in Nakuru.

According to the prosecution, the girl had been send to the shop when he met the accused standing beside the road.

The suspect, the court was told, told her to accompany him to his house where he was to go and give her a DVD, but the suspect later locked the door and started to demand for sex.

The complainant refused and that is when he forced her by covering her mouth after removing her clothes, the court heard.

State prosecutor Hillary Songoyo urged the court to allow him to undergo assessment to ascertain his exact age. Appearing before Principle Magistrate Benard Ndenda, he pleaded not guilty.

The court ordered that he be remanded at the Juvenile GK Children Prison as the court awaits the report. The case will be mentioned on August 14.
