The Nakuru County government is committed to nurturing, promoting and supporting local talent, a senior officer has said.
Speaking at the side lines of a home coming party for a local comedian Professor Hammo hosted by the Laugh Industry over the weekend, deputy governor Joseph Ruto said that the Kinuthia Mbugua led government had all the necessary resources to boost local talent.
“We are happy to have our own in the top ranks of comedy in the country because the Churchill show is an internationally recognised show,” he said.
The deputy governor urged young people to make use of their talents saying that the show was a living testimony of what talent, commitment and the right mentorship can do to any willing heart.
“With professional jobs becoming scarce in the whole world, talent is a sure way of providing alternative options which can take you places as well,” Ruto noted.
This comes barely four months after Laugh Industry CEO partnered with the county government in launching a music, arts and comedy course at Kabarak University aimed at nurturing and offering professional guidance to young talents.Daniel Ndambuki
According to Ndambuki, the home coming party was to act as a wakeup call to all young comedians to make personal decisions of taking their talents to the next level.
“We are here (in Nakuru) for a reason. As much as we have fun, our idea is to encourage anybody wishing to make a curt into this industry, we need fresh blood to take up the mantle from us when we retire,” he said.
