Nakuru Members of County Assembly (MCAs) have raised a red flag over the disposal of used diapers in Viwandani area. Viwandani MCA Eunice Mureithi said that women in Naivasha were disposing of used diapers everywhere in the town, posing a health risk to the children in the area as human waste could easily lead to outbreak of diseases, especially in this rainy season. “The waste is normally carried by rain water and children are often seen playing in the murk. I am calling on parents to be more careful when disposing of the waste,” she added. Mureithi called for the local council to be more vigilant to arrest and charge those caught disposing of waste in non-designated areas. Lakeview MCA Simon Wanango also accused women of not properly disposing of used sanitary towels. He said the council should be strict to enforce garbage disposal laws to ensure that perpetrators are punished. The two were speaking to the press at their offices in Naivasha.
