Nakuru County Commissioner Mohammed Birik has warned youth against engaging in criminal activities.

Birik, who spoke to the press on Saturday in Nakuru town asked youth to keep off criminal activities lest the law catches up with them.

He raised an alarm over the rising number of youth allegedly engaging in criminal acts.

The county commissioner said the law will not be selective in punishing criminals adding that those caught in criminal acts will be dealt with accordingly.

Birik challenged youth to take part in development activities and shun crime.

“Our youth should take advantage of the development opportunities being provided by the government and stop engaging in petty crime,” he said.

He warned that law enforcers will not hesitate to arrest youth who take part in criminal activities.

The county commissioner at the same time asked youth to keep off drug abuse.

He said drug abuse and peddling remains criminal and that those found engaging in them will be arrested and charged.

Birik who had earlier held a meeting with county top security officials asked police to intensify the fight against criminals.

He asked law enforcers to step up the fight against criminals and law breakers.
