Nyamira Senator Kennedy Mong’are has yet again accused members of the county assembly of Nyamira of failing to tackle the corruption issues in the county government.
Speaking at Nyaronge SDA, Mong’are told MCAs to "be counted on the right side of history" by fighting for the rights of the poor people and protecting county resources.
He said many MCAs had abandoned their constitutional obligation of putting the county leadership on toes and instead started ‘dining’ and protecting "merchants of corruption".
“The core role of the MCAs is to be the watchdog of the public in the matters governance at the county government. I am disappointed that many of them are tolerating evils in the county instead of being in the front line to advocate for transparent leadership. They must rise to the occasion and be counted on the right side of history,” he said.
According to him, the county government was losing millions of money to corrupt deals.
“This makes me continue questioning the role of county assembly. The leadership is launching projects that are questionable contrary to our expectations. That is why I insist that MCAs should do their job properly,” he added.
