Nyanchwa residents in Kisii County have appealed to the county's Ministry of Health to register them so they benefit from the anticipated free Mosquito nets program.
Speaking to HiviSasa at Nyanchwa area, Kisii Central Ward on Monday, residents led by Edward Osiemo said that they were not yet registered and urged the ministry to visit the area and register them so that they could be also benefit from the program.
According to Osiemo, the reason they missed out on the registration exercise was that the officers were conducting it during weekdays, a time when most of them are at work.
“In our area we were not registered as such since the exercise was done during the weekdays when we were most likely to be in our various jobs, we are urging the ministry to consider us and revisit our area," said Osiemo.
With Nyanchwa area being a swampy place, they say they are in urgent need of the mosquito nets saying they are likely to get suffer if they are excluded from the program.
“If we are going to miss this program, really, we are going to record high cases of malaria because of the nature of this place so we need protection more than any other area in this county,” added Osiemo.
