Gatundu North MP Kigo Njenga has said that drunkards will be denied opportunity to work in the National Youth Service programmes coming up in the region.
Speaking on Tuesday in Gatundu North, Kigo said that the programme is geared towards impacting on the wellbeing of the youth thus the need to be strict on selection.
“I want to discourage the vice and wipe it out completely. I will start by rewarding those who have kept the vice at bay by giving them priority in the soon to come NYS recruitment. It is so unfortunate to see young and energetic people languishing in the slavery of drugs instead of giving a hand in national building,” Kigo said.
The project, which has already been launched in Kabete, Thika and Gatundu south sub counties will also be launched soon in Gatundu North where it will create job opportunities for 1,000 youths in the area.
Meanwhile, Kigo also called upon Jubilee affiliated members to unite and defend the government against criticism by the opposition. He at the same time emphasised on the need for Kenyans to apply for IDs.
“We the jubilee members are the ones to defend our president. We cannot watch as his name is tainted and the good works he is doing, downplayed by opposition members. Let us learn to protect our government because it is through the TNA that almost all of us clinched their seats to parliament,” he said.
“And for every other citizen, it is necessary that you apply for IDs and register as voters in order to exercise your democratic rights,” he concluded.
