Egerton University terror messages alert suspect says the prosecution is dragging the hearing of a case against him.

Robert Mungai’s lawyer David Mongeri told the court that the prosecution should not use the court process to undermine his client by not presenting the witnesses to testify.

Robert Mungai alias Robert Mohammed Bluez is accused of allegedly perpetrating terror messages and threats targeting Egerton University on social media.

“This is the fourth time that the prosecution is praying for an adjournment, the court must consider that the young man is in custody and therefore the case must continue, there is a time the witnesses were hear at court but later decide to walk away,” he said

Prosecution said that they were not ready to proceed with the hearing that was scheduled for Monday because the duplicate file had been taken to Headquarters and they are waiting for directions to proceed.

Mongeri on the other side objected saying that was only it the duplicate file that was taken to the headquarters and that could not have prevent the case from proceeding.

“My client was given a Sh. 750,000 bond but he was not in a position to raise, it hurts him and the family to drag the case while the young man is suffer in custody, I prayed that the court gives it a final adjournment,” said Mongeri.

Senior Principle Magistrate ordered that the prosecution to prepare themselves to take off with the case so that the hearing takes off.

The case will be heard on August, 10
