University students have been advised to elect responsible leaders who can represent them well through their unions.
Speaking on Wednesday at Kisii University sports ground during the launch of the varsity's cultural week, Vice Chancellor Prof John Akama told the students to demonstrate calmness and peace during their election campaigns.
The students were advised to elect responsible leaders who can present their grievances to the management whenever their is a problem, through official channels.
“It is your democratic rights to choose your leaders but make sure you choose responsible leaders,” the VC said.
Prof Akama added that since he joined the university as the VC in 2009, the leadership of students' union has been reliable and effective.
“Since I joined this university, we have been working together in harmony with the students' union leaders and I hope we will continue working with them that way, " he said.
He also thanked the current students' union president Rodgers Nyanumba and his cabinet for the good work they have done during their tenure.
