Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has urged institutions to give youths an opportunity to deliver and transform the country.
Addressing a gathering on Monday at Kisii University during the public lecture by Ngugi wa Thiong'o, Odinga challenged institutions to provide the youths with a platform to transform the nation.
Raila further said that this is the right time to give youths the extra opportunity, urging Kisii University students to use the opportunity they have to make a change.
According to the former prime minister, the university can be used to provide good qualities to students who can make good leaders and transform the region.
He noted that 72 percent of the population in Kenya is below 35 years, saying they need to be empowered for a better future.
“Our youths need our empowerment and we need to empower them so that they can develop our economy, I’m sure that they have the potential of transforming our country,” said Odinga.
He also supported the use of local language in institutions, saying that by using the language, it will help in devolution since as the process is all about using local languages to learn cultures from different parts.
