Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan has warned owners of entertainment joints selling liquor to school going children of indefinite closure.

Speaking in is office on Tuesday following the arrest of 550 students aged 13-18 years at Sam's Discotheque on Sunday, Hassan said all bars found engaging in the sale of liquor to minors will be closed down immediately.

"We are conducting operations to flush out all rogue bar owners who do not adhere to Mututho laws since they not only mislead our children but also destroy their future," he said.

Hassan urged the public to remain vigilant and report any entertainment joints selling alcohol to minors and promised that stern action would be taken against them while asking parents to take care of their children.

"Parents should know the whereabouts of their children. A parent should know what they do when out of home, know the friends they hang out with and also ensure that their children do not have a lot of money at their disposal since it propagates misbehaviour," he added.
