A former employee at the Nakuru ODM offices was arraigned before a Nakuru court on Thursday for assault.

Charles Ochieng Dulo, with others not before the court was accused of assaulting Hezron Okoki Othuo causing him actual bodily harm and robbing him of Sh30,000 in cash on October 3, 2015, at Railway area within Nakuru County.

The court heard that the accused, who formerly worked as a secretary at the Nakuru County ODM offices, was in the company of a group of youths who beat up the complainant and stole from him.

Okoki reported the matter to the police and Ochieng was arrested and taken to Nakuru Central Police station but was later released on a police bond of Sh10,000.

Appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Maroro Nyankundi, Ochieng pleaded not guilty and was released on a surety bond of Sh10,000 and an alternative cash bail of Sh5,000.

The court ordered that the defense be supplied with all witnesses statements and other prosecution documents that will be used in the case.

The case will be heard on December 16.
