A family in Juja’s Muigai-ini has this morning been rendered homeless after they were attacked by a private developer who demolished their houses and evicted them.

According to the evictees, the bulldozers were accompanied by over 50 armed youths and several policemen at around 5am.

Robert Muigai, one of the victims said that they woke up on Monday and found that their fence had been demolished overnight by people they did not know and they took a step in reporting to Juja police station.

He added that they heard noises from outside but on waking up found that their area had been surrounded by armed men and a bulldozer which started demolishing without a warning.

Muigai said that they had no prior notice served them before the demolition and that the land has never had a conflict.

“We have been living here peacefully since our childhood and we have never had any conflicts with anyone claiming this land is his. We have all the legal documents and this is shocking,” he said.

So far, no one from the authorities has arrived the rescue of the family. This is despite the chief’s camp being just 100 meters away.
