A family in Mwongori location in Nyamira County is mourning the death of an eight-year old child who was killed, and his body subsequently dumped near their home.
Master Peterson Ondimu was allegedly killed late on Friday evening after visiting a nearby shop to buy a match box, after he was sent by his mother.
Speaking to this writer on Saturday, Doris Omwenga, the mother to the deceased said her son had been murdered by anonymous people and the body was discovered moments after 9 pm.
“I am really disappointed and this is a big blow to my family. He was the only son and I don’t understand the motive behind the killing. We followed him up after taking unnecessarily long in the shop only to discover the badly mutilated body,” she said.
However, the father to the deceased Charles Omwenga associated the killing with his political affiliations in the county government and local leadership.
“I have been the target of people because I have been driving the agenda of the county government. I have been receiving threats and the police know that. They have to investigate,” he said.
Area chief David Ogega assured residents of an expeditious action over the matter, and urged family members not to jump into conclusion.
“It is really sad that he had to die but the government will ensure that the culprits are brought to book. Let the family members give us humble time,” he said.
