Over 15 family members in Kerina Village, Bonchari Sub-County in Kisii have been rendered homeless following a move by the father to sell all the family's land without their consent.

According to the eldest son, Patrick Mayieka their father, Isiah Mayieka sold their land and fled with all the money without consulting them.

He added that they only came to discover the land was sold to a renowned businessman in the area called Julius Nyandoro when he gave them a notice to vacate.

“The man came to our home early Monday morning holding the tittle deed of the land and having a notice for us to move yet we don’t know when my father sold our land," said Mayieka

He said they have officially launched a complain to the area Chief Joseph Mosumari and they are awaiting for further assistance since they have no place to move to.

“We want to know why the businessman agreed to buy the whole parcel of land without our involvement and where he wants us to go to since this is our home,” he added.

He said their father left a week ago saying he was going to Nairobi for an unspecified errand but they have now learned that he may have deserted them.

The businessman alleged to have purchased the land could not be reached for comment.
