Five people, including a 15-year-old boy were arraigned before a Nakuru court on Tuesday to answer to charges of housebreaking.

Ann Wambui, George Nganga, Joseph Njogu, Peter Mwaura and a 15-year-old boy were accused of allegedly breaking into the house of Tonny Kariuki and stealing electricity cables, bulbs, bulbs holders and sockets valued at Sh90,000 on diverse dates between August 23 and august 30 at Gachuchi village, Kihingo location in Njoro.

In the same charge, on August 30, Ann Wambui was found with stolen electricity sockets worth Sh150 at her home in Gachuchi village.

George Nganga and Joseph Njogu were also found in possession of 3 bulb holders, 2 bulbs and electricity cables believed to have belonged to Tonny Kariuki.

Its alleged that the owner of the house had gone to visit his friend and left the house locked, the suspects are said to have managed to steal the items by using the young boy who entered the house through a window they had vandalised. 

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Joel Ng'eno, they pleaded not guilty and they were released on a Sh50,000 cash bail.

The case will be heard on October 9.
