The Nyamira County government has partnered with Kisii University to give the county fire fighters advanced training on how to tackle fire tragedies when they occur.
In a statement, the Chief Officer in charge of Public Service Management Vitallis Getange said the county is preparing for any fire disaster in case of any occurrence.
Mr Getange said the partnership came after realisation that the skills wielded by the fire fighters were wanting.
He also added that the training will equip the county fire fighters with the latest technology used on how to handle machines that are yet to be purchased by the county government before the end of the year.
The training is expected to be carried out in Nyamira County offices and in the Kisii University premises.
“The county needs to be ready in case of any hazard," he said.
"We will be able to deal with it within the shortest time possible, and that can be only achieved through the training that is set to be carried," he said.
