A man who had been arrested for interrogation following reports that he was a foreigner in Yatta Town on Saturday has been released.

Police said that members of the public arrested the man and took him to the Yatta Police station claiming he was allegedly planning to administer oaths to youths in the area.

Confirming the incident on Sunday, Yatta OCPD Edward Kipsang said police raided Yatta market after they got information that some aliens had been spotted in the area.

He noted that the officers managed to arrest only one person who after being interrogated, was released on Sunday.

Kipsang added that police had received information that some aliens had been spotted in the area and had laid a trap for them but the public disrupted the trap when they apprehended the man and led to the fleeing of the rest believed to be four in number.

“The police have not identified the real motive behind their arrival in the area but we are investigating their whereabouts as they managed to escape the police trap,” said Kipsang.

The police boss said security agents were alert adding that police would not condone any outlawed group to conduct its activities in the area.

The OCPD however appealed to the community to be on the look out for suspicious people in their midst and report them to security officers on the ground.

He also called upon residents to desist from engaging in criminal activities.
