Former Bonchari Member of Parliament John Oyioka has called upon elected leaders to be accountable to Wananchi, in order to enhance proper management of resources.
Adressing Suneka residents on Wednesday, Oyioka asked leaders to be transparent on how they spend both the national and county budget allocations, saying lack of accountability has affected key institutions in the country.
He further accused some leaders of directing their energies on perfecting less important issues like corruption.
The former legislator observed that though the Jubilee government had focused on strengthening devolution, some county bosses had failed the leadership test by devolving corruption.
“It is very sad that most county bosses have concentrated on petty politics and ripping off resources from their counties instead of ensuring they better lives of the electorates,” said Oyioka.
The Former MP, who lost his seat after two by-elections, said it was unfair for politicians to play politics all year round at the expense of Kenyans who continued to lack essential services.
Though he refused to disclose whether he will vie again come 2017, he urged Kenyans to keep their leaders on check always.
