Moi University Health workers have yet again marched to the institution’s administration demanding extraneous and risk allowances which they claim they have not received for 5 years.
On October 16, the health workers had threatened to down their tools saying their 2012-13 Collective Bargaining Agreement had not been implemented fully. The chairman of the health workers union, Mr. William Obwur was also present and he also joined in complaining that the institution management had allegedly sidelined them for over the 5 years.
The union’s chairman had also noted that health workers at the University of Eldoret are being paid their allowances yet the main campus has neglected their workers and called upon the institution’s leaders to step up and pay them.
The health workers also condemned the institution’s leaders including the vice chancellor Prof. Richard Mibei for spending millions of shillings in their travelling allowances and senate meetings and yet they could not pay their allowances.
The workers had to however wait outside the institution as security threats was being sorted out.
