Farmers at Gachege Tea Factory are expected to get better tea earnings during this year's bonus, a director at the factory has said.
Benson Thuku who represents Gachege Tea electoral zone said the improved earnings are as a result of improved global tea prices and cooperation between farmers and the factory.
"Last year the farmers received very poor earnings compared to previous years which was as a result of fluctuation of global tea prices," said Thuku.
He added: "Farmers this year did well in delivering quality tea leaves to the factory. The factory also did well in processing and also the global tea prices improved significantly.”
He appealed to farmers to continue nurturing their tea bushes saying indications are high that the global tea prices will continue to do well.
"What we would ask farmers to continue working hard and deliver more tea to the factory because the more kilograms one has, the better the pay," said Thuku.
He spoke on Tuesday at Gachege market during a tea farmers' meeting.
