Juja Sub-County’s Gachororo chief Justin Chege has been sacked following corruption allegations levelled against him.
The allegation is that he has been complicit in the fight against illicit brews in his area.
According to Thika Sub-County deputy county commissioner Jeremiah Gicheru, an order from the Ministry of Interior after the National Authority for the Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (Nacada) raised concerns over the chief, was served to him on Tuesday that the administrator should vacate office immediately.
Gicheru added that they have enough evidence against the chief as his assistants have been raising the concerns as well as the public.
It is alleged that the area has numerous chang’aa brewers whom the chief allegedly shielded during the fight against brews early this month.
“The MP didn’t get information about the area from the chief and thus was forced to leave it out of the crackdown during the four days. The chief was paid to shield them and we have been investigating the incident,” Gicheru said on Thursday from his office.
