A gangster was shot dead Friday morning as three accomplices escaped with gunshot wounds in a foiled robbery at ACK Church in Lari Sub-County.
Confirming the incident, Lari OCPD Alfred Makoma, said the attempted robbery occurred at 5am.
“Administration police attached to Lari Sub-County commissioner were tipped-off by members of the public and acted quickly where they confronted the gangsters and shot dead one suspect as three others escaped with gunshot wounds,” said Makoma.
Makoma said the police recovered two cars which they suspect were stolen with the intention of being used in the crime.
“The AP recovered two cars at the scene but the three suspects escaped with a AK 47 riffle,” said Makoma.
He said the police have launched a manhunt for the suspects and thanked members of the public for providing the vital information.
The OCPD urged the residents to continue cooperating with police officers in maintaining law and order.
The body of the suspect was taken to Kiambu District Hospital while the recovered cars were towed to Lari Police Station.
