Gatuanyaga Member of County Assembly Cecilia Wamaitha has appealed to the Kiambu government to install street lights in the ward in a bid to improve security in the area.

Speaking to the public at Githima shopping centre on Monday, the MCA said that the area has not been lit up despite promises from the county government.

She said that criminals are taking advantage of the darkness to advance their evil agendas.

The MCA noted that crime is on the rise and that installing street lights and other surveillance will help address the situation.

“The Kiambu County government should honour its promise and install street lights for us,” she said.

The MCA stated that lighting up the ward will encourage small scale traders to conduct their business even at night.

She said that traders are forced to close down early for fear of being attacked by goons.

The MCA also asked the government to repair roads and drainage systems.

Wamaitha noted that a section of roads in the ward are in deplorable condition.

“Our roads are often rendered impassable during heavy down pour and the county government should look into that,” she added.

At the same time, the MCA asked residents to remain peaceful and embrace each other. She promised to follow up on development projects so that the people can have access to quality services.
