In a move to improve health service delivery in hospitals, Kiambu County government has hired 50 nurses to work at the newly refurbished Gatundu Level Four Hospital.
Governor William Kabogo, while issuing deployment letters to the health workers on Monday, said that he is dedicated to delivering quality services to the public and ensure their living standards are improved.
He said that the nurses will boost the number of workers working in the county.
Kabogo said that the hospital will also serve a bigger number and also host reformed drug users in the new rehabilitation and counselling centre.
The hospital's medical superintendent Dr Patrick Nyaga said he is delighted that he will be the first to rehabilitate youths that have reformed from drugs and alcoholism.
He said that all the services are now available in the hospital including x-rays and others which used to be done outside the hospital.
The hospital was refurbished in a partnership between Kiambu government and Kenyatta University.
