Thousands of youth thronged Gituamba Ward, Gatundu North, Kiambu County to give a final farewell to the Gatundu North youth leader, Peter Kamau.
The youth braved the chilly weather and paid a growing tribute to the late Kamau for his work in transforming Kiambu youth.
Addressing area residents at the funeral on Wednesday, Kiambu County Youth Affair executive Machel Wakienda described Kamau as a sociable and charismatic leader who devoted his life to bringing change to the youth.
“Kamau was a charismatic leader and I urge youth to emulate him. It is unfortunate that death has stripped Kiambu of a youthful leader,” said Wakienda.
Gituamba MCA Samuel Ng'ang'a said Kamau was a role model for he played a role in uniting and helping Kiambu youth.
“Kamau will be remembered for his role in encouraging youth to abandon lethal liquor and helping them to start income-generating projects,” said Ng'ang'a.
Ng'ang,a said Kamau was an unsung hero who was ready to work with youth in all matters touching on their plights.
The burial was also attended by local leaders and clergies who hailed him as a visionary leader despite his brief stint at the helm.
The late Kamau held the chair for 21 days.
