A Kisii politician who has been under fire from his critics over the immense resources he is using to campaign for 2017 elections has defended the source of his wealth.
Mokaya Maroko, who is aspiring to be Gesima ward MCA in Nyamira County, asked his competitors to desist from dragging former Kitutu Masaba MP Walter Nyambati into his political game.
This comes a day after a group of contestants allied to the current Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire accused Maroko of conspiring with Nyambati to use the funds that was allegedly part of CDF kitty.
“These people are dragging Nyambati to what he even does not know. If indeed we are using the CDF money then that is wrong. Nyambati is not in office and if at all he embezzled funds from CDF kitty, then the auditor General should have exposed that,” he said.
Maroko threatened to sue leaders who are defaming him as a land grabber and a corrupt individual during his tenure as a Chief Procurement officer in Nairobi County.
“I have worked for Nairobi County ever since 1990 and I have never faced any case to do with land or corruption. I am very clean and those defaming me should be ready to face me in court,” he added.
Maroko said he is an investor in the real estate in different towns across the country besides being interested in Banking and Finance sector.
Among those who may find themselves in a hot soup include aspiring Gesima MCAs Julious Nyanchieo, Osebe Mogisigi and incumbent Ken Atuti who have allegedly been blaming Mokayo of being Nyambati’s puppet.
