Thika Sub-County Commissioner Jeremiah Gicheru has commended Thika Town Development Funds (CDF) Committee for the good work it has done on developing the community.

Gicheru said that his office has so far received Sh4.7M for construction of chiefs and assistant chiefs’ offices and also for construction of administration police officers residences from the kitty.

He also applauded the committee for its efforts in training of chiefs and assistant chiefs in the area on motorcycle riding as they wait for the motorbikes which are set to arrive later next month.

Speaking to the press on Monday from his office, Gicheru said that there was a need for the chiefs to enlighten themselves on CDF so that they can make a follow up of the money and ensure it was put into good use by the intended beneficiaries.

He further lauded the women for taking up the administration jobs confirming that there are eight assistant chiefs’ women assistants and four chiefs and urged them to continue applying for the jobs anytime he advertises a vacancy.

He said that the chiefs had a duty to help in maintaining law and order saying that the government would hold them responsible if they did nothing to stop criminal activities in their areas.

The DCC told the administrators to educate the public on the dangers of illicit brew, which was still a major problem in the area despite the police efforts to curb brewing of the illegal liquor.
