The case against Nakuru Town East MP did not proceed on Monday after the defence requested for adjournment to finalise negotiations with the complainant.

In July 29, David Gikaria was accused of dumping solid and liquid waste on a public highway on different occasions between July 11 and July 16 within Nakuru town.

The MP denied the charges before Resident Magistrate Judicaster Nthuku and was released on a bond of Sh300,000 with one person as a surety and a cash bail of Sh200,000.

The court heard that there were negotiations going on between the defence and the complainants.

State prosecutor Moses Mburu did not object to the plea for adjournment and said it would be better to mention the case in a week’s time.

The National Environment Management Authority (Nema) sued Gikaria for dumping the waste in an area not designated for waste disposal.

He is said to have led a team of members of the public to dump crushed wines and spirits bottles at the Geoffrey Kamau Highway and KFA roundabouts.

Nthuku directed that the case be mentioned before Principle Magistrate Wakumile Ndururu on October 26 and urged the parties to proceed with negotiations.
