Kiambu County Deputy Governor Gerald Githinji has called on school children not to be initiated into devil worshipping or attend churches with questionable characters.
Githinji said that school children are being initiated into doctrines that have no visible background.
Speaking in Thika Town on Wednesday, Githinji said devil worshipping is gaining momentum not only in Kiambu County but the entire nation and urged youths and students to be careful.
“Some churches just emerge from nowhere and lure our children and youths into joining them yet they have questionable backgrounds,” said Githinji.
Githinji said cases of devil worshipping had been reported in the county, especially in Ruiru Sub-County where parents asked the necessary authorities to take action against such churches.
The deputy governor said parents should be on the lookout during the school holidays and monitor the churches their children attend, in a bid to minimise the number of evil doers in the country.
He said fake clergymen had emerged pretending to serve the genuine God only to lure members of the public into joining cults thus affecting the generation of the country.
The deputy governor called on leaders to sensitise youth in their areas of jurisdiction on religion and advise them to follow the right church and not to be fooled by fake clergymen.
Githinji further called on genuine pastors and bishops to pray for the nation to untangle it from devil worshippers who are targeting children and youth in the name of gaining riches and power.
