More than 300 Internally Displaced Persons will meet at Nuru Palace in Nakuru on Friday to discuss their fate.

Peter Kariuki, the national Chairperson of the Alliance of Internally Displaced Persons said the agenda for the meeting to be attended by government officials will largely involve charting a way forward for IDPs not yet resettled.

“As per the records, 140 leaders are already here," he said on Thursday.

"We expect the remaining 250 by Thursday evening. We will be having a preliminary session later in the evening as we await the official meeting to start on Friday."

He was speaking to the press at Village Park Resort in Nakuru ahead of the meeting.

“The meeting has been organised by the government to discuss pertinent issues affecting us, among them resettlement of the remaining IDPs and other development agendas,” he Kariuki said.

Although he commended the government efforts in ensuring all IDPs are resettled, Kariuki said there was still a challenge as some fake IDPs still live in camps.

“My attention however has been raised by the appearance of certain individuals who are purported to be representatives in the board while we all know that they are quacks out to squander our rightful gains. They endorsed themselves to be the national IDP committee."

Kariuki pointed out he did not know how the officials were elected.

“It is baffling since they have never tasted the pain many went through."
