Kisii County governor James Ongwae has challenged the national government to disburse funds to counties in time to facilitate more development projects and pay contractors to avoid conflicts.

According to governor Ongwae, contractors delay to be paid their money due to the delay of funds from the national government, hindering development in counties.

Speaking on Tuesday in Kisii town, Ongwae said if the government sends money to counties in time then there would be no delay of development projects to be completed and challenged government to release the funds in time.

“Some of our contractors think that we have refused to pay them, no, we have to give you your money. The only problem we face is that we don’t get money from the national government in time,” he said.

The governor promised Kisii residents of more development projects as he pledged during his campaigns.

“I am going to make sure our roads are well rehabilitated to ease transportation within Kisii County ,” he vowed.
