Nominated Member Of County Assembly Esther Njeri now wants the government to create a special kitty for children living in prisons that would see them tour various places in the country

Njeri cited that the children did not understand anything outside prison walls and hence were being denied their basic human rights.

“Many of them have never stepped out of the prison wall. I feel that they should be at least allowed to visit various places in a government sponsored tour which will make them enjoy their childhood,” she cited

Ms Njeri lamented that the only time the children went outside the prison gates were when they were going to court to accompany their mothers.

“It’s as if they are also serving a jail term. We should be able to allow the children to grow up like normal children and experience the world. Otherwise limiting them to an enclosed world is dangerous,” she cited

She was speaking to the press in Nakuru on Thursday where she called on well wishers to continue donating foods and other basic requirements to their children.

“It’s important to give them food, diapers, toiletries and powdered milk. This will enable them to grow and be strong like any other kid,” she added
