The national government has been urged to engage the Catholic Church over the polio vaccination to avert the derailment of the exercise.

Pentecostal Churches forum Western Kenya coordinator, Bishop Daniel Aoyi said the concerns being raised by the Catholic Church should not be ignored.

He said the dissenting voices should not be wished away but must be put into consideration.

“Let the government dialogue with the dissenting voices because the vaccine exercise will be hampered if these concerns are not addressed,” he said.

Aoyi said Catholic Church does not mean bad for the country bearing in mind the investments spanning from education to health sector across the country.

Addressing the press in Kisumu on Tuesday at his Oasis Church in Nyaleda, Aoyi praised the government’s effort to protect its citizens through the vaccination.

He said the government needs support to be able to deliver some of its duties to the people.

Aoyi said apart from the Catholic Church, there are other dissenting voices who feel the vaccination is not safe and that must also be addressed.

He says the dissenting voices are not exception only in Kenya noting that the vaccine has also been rejected in other developed countries.
