Three Nakuru MPs have decided to put their differences aside and have vowed to work together with Governor Kinuthia Mbugua to foster development in the county.

This is after a consultation meeting held on Monday at the governor’s office between the MPs, Mr Mbugua and several MCAs.

Addressing reporters after the meeting, Nakuru East MP David Gikaria and his Nakuru West counterpart Samuel Arama apologised to the governor over the recent disagreement over market stalls.

Gikaria said they have been handling issues unprofessionally and promised to be consulting the governor’s office in development matters. The MP also thanked the governor for allowing them to dialogue with them and said they fully support the governor in his efforts to steer development in the county.

“We have a responsibility to the people who elected us and they have a right to demand service delivery from us,” the lawmaker said.

“That’s why we have decided to put our differences aside and work as a government,” he added.

Nakuru West MP Samuel Arama blamed misinformation on the recent conflict with the governor.

On his part, Governor Kinuthia Mbugua agreed to work together with the three leaders. He said they will be consulting more, especially on issues affecting the public.

The leaders agreed to give the public at least 90 days to find appropriate places for their structures to avoid confusion. The county will also come up with simple affordable structures for the informal businesses.
